I am very pleased to see that we are launching our ambitious new National Bus Strategy, backed by £3 billion, which will pave the way for cheaper, quicker and more reliable services – delivering on our promise to level up transport connections across the country.
- Buses play a transformational role in people’s lives – unlocking job opportunities, helping children get to school, and sustaining town centres. But services across England are too often patchy, and we must improve them.
- Our new National Bus Strategy will completely overhaul services – by helping councils and operators work more closely together, we will make buses more frequent, cheaper, greener and easier to use, delivering real and tangible benefits to passengers. Contactless payments on all buses, daily price caps and better information will transform bus services in England outside London.
- As we build back from the pandemic, better buses will be one of our first acts of levelling-up – making them the transport of choice, reducing the number of car journeys and improving quality of life for millions.
