The Great British High Street Awards are returning this year and North Cornwall MP Scott Mann is calling on local high streets to put themselves forward as the best in Britain.
Supported by the Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government, in partnership with trade and public sector organisations, the awards showcase the efforts of local communities in making their town centres vibrant places to work and spend leisure time. 2018 marks 4 years since the awards first began and this year they are set to be bigger and better than ever.
Sponsored by VISA, the awards give entrants the chance to win up to £10,000 to spend on their communities; making them more vibrant places to live, work and shop. The overall winner will be declared High Street of the Year.
Scott Mann said:
“High streets lie at the heart of our communities and I’m encouraging the business community in all of North Cornwall’s towns and villages to take part in this year’s Great British High Street awards. This event is a great way of showing pride in our local communities and supports local economies.
“It is very important to celebrate the role our high streets play. They are the places where we shop, rely on important services and spend our leisure time. It’s important that we celebrate the vital but often unsung role that they play.”
