This week’s column coincides with the late Queen’s funeral and the end of the national mourning period. Although it has been a difficult time, I am very proud of the way that North Cornwall came together to pay its respects. Prior to the state funeral, I visited all six towns in the constituency and signed the book of condolence at each of the town halls. It was very nice to see the tributes that local people had made and speak to constituents directly about how they felt. During the last two weeks, and due to the protocol Parliament is working under, my team and I have been concentrating on urgent casework while policy matters are put aside. Parliamentary business will resume in the next few days, and I will be dealing with policy issues and returning to government work along with my colleagues. I look forward to updating you all again soon.
