Today, millions of workers will receive a £1,000 pay rise and households across England can access our £150 council tax rebate, as part of our £9.1 billion to help families with the cost of living.
- Families are facing a higher cost of living because of global inflationary pressures, an energy spike and global instability – so we are working to keep household costs down.
- That is why we are boosting the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage today, delivering a £1,000 a year pay rise for 2.5 million full time workers in the largest ever uplift to the National Living Wage.
- We have also introduced a non-repayable £150 cash rebate for homes in Council Tax bands A – D – equivalent to 80 per cent of all households, helping both lower and middle-income families.
- While no government can control the global factors pushing up the cost of everyday essentials, we are acting wherever we can to mitigate cost of living pressures and put more money into the pockets of working people.
