Scott Mann has pledged his support to Bodmin Bowls Club in their quest to obtain government funding for expansion. Joined by a Government Minister, both met with local councillors and club representatives to discuss the expansion plans.
The proposed project would see renovation and modernisation of the indoor bowls hall and also lighting improvements to the adjoining pavilion. After meeting in the town to discuss the Shared Space scheme proposed for Bodmin, Marcus Jones, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, then stopped by the Club with Scott to see the Club’s pitch for expansion.
With many bowlers from other outdoor clubs in the Mid and North Cornwall relying on the Bodmin’s indoor facilities during the winter exercise, expansion is vital.
Scott Mann MP said:
“Marcus Jones and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with club members at Bodmin Bowls Club, and I will be expressing my support to Sport England for their quest for funding.
“Bowls can be played by all ages and I welcome their efforts of trying to cater for the wider community.”
Marcus Jones MP said:
“I enjoyed visiting Bodmin Bowls Club and meeting with club members who are clearly passionate about the sport. I wish them all the best in their efforts to secure funding to enhance their facilities and better cater for the community.”
Mr Peter Brown - President of the Club said:
“It is important that in order to develop the sport, the best possible quality of indoor bowls facilities should be provided, so as to be welcoming and efficient in respect of both operating and ongoing maintenance costs. This proposed project would help achieve these objectives. This project would favourably impact on helping to keep membership fees at an affordable level into the foreseeable future. It would encourage existing Members of the Club to continue and should hopefully attract people in the town and wider Community to try the sport.”
