Scott Mann has pledged his support for the Keep Me Posted campaign which wants consumers to have the right to choose whether they are contacted by banks, utility companies and other service providers via letter or email.
There is an increasing trend for companies to encourage paperless communication, however, many people prefer to receive bills and information in the post, and the Keep Me Posted campaign wants this customers to have this right without being penalised.
Scott met the campaign’s chair, Judith Donovan CBE, in the Houses of Parliament on the 29th November to discuss the campaign and the importance of consumer choice The Keep Me Posted campaign has introduced the Keep Me Posted “Mark of Distinction.” The Mark has been awarded to over thirty service providers such as HSBC and Natwest who offer consumers the ability to choose paper statements and bills without being charged for the privilege.
Scott said:
"The Keep Me Posted campaign is working to safeguard the rights of consumers to choose whether they are communicated via post or email. It is an increasing trend for companies to promote paperless communication to avoid excessive paper waste and resources, which is welcome, however, there are many people who prefer to be contacted by letter, and consumers should always have the right to be contacted by post rather than email.
"I'm very pleased to see the Keep Me Posted campaign garnering more and more support from companies which are willing to keep paper communication so that their customers have a choice and are not forced into accepting electronic and online communications."
Judith Donovan CBE, Chair of the Keep Me Posted campaign, said:
“Since the launch of Keep Me Posted four years ago, over 100 organisations have pledged their support in ensuring that consumers retain the right to receive paper statements without penalties.
"We really appreciate the support of Scott which takes us one step closer to making sure that the people of North Cornwall have the right to choose.”
