“I’m absolutely thrilled that Theresa May is our new Prime Minister and party leader. Theresa gave a passionate speech in Downing Street last night reaching out personally to everyone in the country.
“Theresa rightly pointed out that she is the leader of the Conservative and Unionist Party, reinforcing the fact that we are one United Kingdom and that is how we must remain at this challenging time. I have full confidence that as our new Prime Minister, Theresa May will negotiate our new relationship with Europe and the wider world.
“Theresa will also continue to implement our manifesto to create a fairer Britain for all, where work pays and we continue to create life chances for everyone.
“I’m also delighted to see her first appointments to the Cabinet. As Theresa said: ‘Brexit means Brexit’, and she is certainly sticking to that promise with two new Whitehall departments overseeing Brexit and International Trade.
“I was delighted to see my fellow South West colleague Liam Fox back at the cabinet table in the role of Secretary of State for International Trade. I know Liam will ensure the best deal for the United Kingdom with all European nations and beyond, and I look forward to this opening many doors for North Cornwall on the world stage.”
