Scott Mann has highlighted the inefficiencies of EU spending programmes in Cornwall after telling Ministers that only 1,300 were set to be created in the county from £350 million of investment.
As a result, Scott called on the Governmen to give Cornwall a tailored post-Brexit funding programme which creates more jobs in a faster time at lower cost to the taxpayer.
Figures from a Cornwall Council document predict that under EU investment programmes totalling £350 million between 2017 and 2020, only 1,300 jobs will be created. The breakdown of the spending includes £280 million from the EU plus match funding of £38 million and £32 million from Cornish authorities and the private sector respectively.
